Mama monster shared an emotional speech as she collected her top style icon award at this year's Council of Fashion Designers of America award ceremony.
Known by the CFDA as "being a fashion revolutionary", the style risk-taker showed up to the event in an asymmetrical black, sheer corset piece by Thierry Mugler with a turquoise wig to complete the look. "She pushes boundaries, she loves fashion,” said CFDA president Diane von Furstenberg, “and she loves dressing up.”
While accepting her fashion icon award, a nervous Gaga relived moments of when she was a teen and how she would save her money, while keeping tabs on her favorite pieces from a neighborhood thrift store.
Gaga follows in the fashion footsteps of former icon winners such as Kate Moss and Sarah Jessica Parker. "All of you made me feel like a star before I was," she told the crowd of A-listers and fashion elites. "As much as this award means to me personally ... I just want you to know how much this means to young Americans."
